The 20-Day Hiring Process
A practical structure for hiring senior technical people in under a month without lowering the bar.

Speed is usually treated as a trade-off against quality. In practice, most process length comes from scheduling gaps and undefined decision rights, neither of which contributes any signal.
The structure
- 01Days 1–3: calibration and written role definition.
- 02Days 4–10: sourcing and first-stage assessment.
- 03Days 11–15: two client stages, booked in advance as a block.
- 04Days 16–18: references and compensation alignment.
- 05Days 19–20: offer and acceptance.
What makes it work
Interview slots are reserved before candidates exist. Feedback is due within twenty-four hours. One person holds the decision. Remove any of those three and the process reverts to six weeks.
